Motorcycle Gloves can protect your hands. In fact, gloves are known to protect the hands of the wearer from abrasions and cuts and also offer protection and comfort from cold. Wearing a pair of gloves on the hands while going for a ride on the motorcycle is extreme, important. It allows the hands to have a better grip of the controls of the bike and thus help in maneuvering the motorcycle.

Gloves help to protect the wearer not only from cold and heat but also help to protect the hands against any damage due to fiction or abrasions and falls while riding a motorcycle.

Almost all motor cycle gloves are made from the finest leather as it is leather which is not only durable but also provides the maximum comfort and warmth during the winter months. Motorcycle gloves are helpful in mot only warding off any kind of road rashes like accidents but are considered more as a safety accessory when riding motorcycle.

Motorcycle gloves come in different varieties and are widely available in the sports shops and even on the internet. They are summer gloves, medium weight gloves, winter gloves, Rain gloves and even heated gloves.

Summer motorcycle gloves are common leather gloves which are simple and thin and they do not have any lining and they do not provide any resistance to water and thus can be worn only during the summer months when there is no rain. Summer gloves are of two types like the ones which come with fingers and the other the fingerless variety.

The fingerless variety leather gloves have a single large opening to fit the hand and the fingers are left uncovered so that only the palm and wrist have the needed protection while the fingers have the dexterity to move easily and thereby they can control the handles of the motorcycles.

Medium weight gloves are those kinds of gloves which come in between the summer and winter gloves. And it is these kinds of gloves that most of the motorcycle riders tend to prefer and use. While some of the gloves have lining some do not and they come in all styles and sizes.

Winter gloves are much thicker and come heavily padded so as to offer the extra warmth that is needed during the cold weather. These gloves are also made in such a way as to handle rain so that the gloves do not get wet and thereby make riding difficult.

The rain gloves are nothing more than a plastic covering intended to keep out the rain but these are quite dangerous as they tend to get very slippery during rains and do not offer good grip over the controls These gloves also tend to become bulky but because they are cheaper than the other gloves many riders do buy these gloves.

There are people who enjoy going for aride on their motor cycles during the winter months also and for these people there are heated gloves which come with batteries and a heating element which tends to keep the hands warm.

Today’s biker is looking for classic styling, high performance and unmatched quality–from their boots and their bikes. So what should you look for when buying motorcycle boots? First you want Premium Oiled Leathers, the best leather available.
This Black Odessa Leather is waxed and oiled to make the boot more water resistant. I prefer the Vibram Chippewa Sole. This is the best motorcycle boot sole in the industry. This particular motorcycle boot sole is oil resistant and provides good traction due to its high surface contact area. Since a lot of us are around oil spills and such working on our bikes, this is a must have. Buy cheap boots without oil resistant soles and the oil will eat them away.
Another thing I prefer is Goodyear Welted Construction, which greatly adds to your motorcycle boot durability. Make sure the motorcycle boots are stitched, not glued, meaning that the soles are completely replaceable when you do finally wear them down, and let’s face it motorcycle riders are tough on their motorcycle boots. The uppers are going to last virtually forever so don’t make the mistake of buying motorcycle boots without replaceable soles.
Another thing overlooked by many is a Toe Shifter Pad. This is of major Importance to bikers because it protects the toe and arch from fatigue and damage due to gear shifting. That’s not something that everyone thinks about but it’s important.
Make sure the motorcycle boots you buy have Quality Non-Tarnishable Hardware. You want your motorcycle boot hardware to look as polished and shiny as your bike.
I also like the Texon Insole which takes moisture away from the foot to keep it as dry as possible. The insole is also anti-microbial, preventing bacteria growth in your motorcycle boots. Make sure the lining of your motorcycle boot is fully leather lined with additional upper padding to provide maximum comfort.
Look for the Bison Stampede Collection from Chippewa which is made from the American Bison. This leather is supple, comfortable, and durable. It normally outlasts regular bovine leather by as much as 50-80%.

Motorcycle GPS is like auto GPS. It’s fast becoming an essential accessory for any biker who likes long rides without getting lost. Because it’s not quite as easy to navigate on a motorbike. You can’t just hand the map over your shoulder to your girlfriend behind and ask her to tell you where to turn. Navigating on a motorcycle involves stopping. You need to take the map out, work out where you’re going and put it away. While you’re stopped. Not so good when it’s raining, for example, or on the side of a busy road, or even just when you’re in a real hurry. A good motorcycle GPS unit can take all that away and make motorcycle navigation a breeze. And the Garmin Zumo 55o is a good motorcycle GPS unit. A very good motorcycle GPS unit. Why? Well first up is it’s design. It’s not an auto GPS device that’s adapted for use on a motorcycle. It’s designed specifically with the motorcyclist in mind. For example it has a simple user friendly touch screen with large icons so it can be operated on the ride with gloves on. And with the left hand. And unlike someone using a car GPS, a motorcycle GPS unit has some other requirements for bikers as well. For example you’re trying to read the screen in the sun, so it’s usually harder to read. Not the Garmin Zumo 550 motorcycle GPS. It’s designed to be readable from the saddle even in bright sunlight, so the motorcyclist doesn’t need to do contortions to read it. And it’s UV friendly so the sun won’t break it down. And it’s waterproof so the rain won’t kill it. And it’s fuel resistant too. After all you don’t want your bike GPS to break down from something like the effects of the sun do you?Another issue specific to motorcycle riders is the mount. In the past a good mount was quite in issue, and many motorbike riders had to adapt some type of car GPS mount to mount the motorcycle GPS unit on the handlebars, or anywhere. But the Garmin Zumo 550 comes with it’s own motorcycle mount for the handlebars. And it’s vibration resistant too, an issue for bikers but not for car drivers. It’s got integrated speakers so you can listen to your directions via bluetooth technology so you don’t even need to look down. City navigator maps are loaded from the start so all your maps are already right there. There’s a comprehensive database of points of interest like motels, fuel stops, restaurants and more, and you can even load your own points of interest, or maps. with an XM subscription and an antenna you can even get real time traffic and weather and radio, so you can avoid all those pesky traffic jams. Traffic jam ahead? Push a button and your Zumo will calculate a new route for you without even needing to get off your bike. Use your phone via the 550, and you don’t even need to take off your gloves or helmet. And you get the voice commands right to your helmet too. Need to turn left soon? Just wait for the command. And why not upload your favorite music and listen to that while you ride as well?A good motorcycle GPS unit like the Garmin Zumo 550 will allow you to plan your rides, store your best rides and even share them with your friends. If you’ve found motorcycle navigation a drag in the past, invest in a great motorcycle GPS unit and motorbike navigation becomes a breeze.

The hobby of owning and operating a motorcycle has become so popular over the past couple of decades that the accessory world has boomed too. The responsibilities of people owning a motorcycle include purchasing a helmet, eye protection, a Full face guard, long pants, boots, driving gloves, goggles, an insurance policy and other items. Some states in the country require all motorcycle riders to wear a helmet when operating the bike no matter what their age is.

Motocross helmets and BMX helmets are some of the motorcycle gear that can be purchased by customers at stores such as the ones operated by Harley Davidson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fiberglass is used to make some helmets these days while other ones are carbon fiber helmets.

The replacement of the motorcycle’s tires after wear and tear is one aspect of maintenance that needs to be performed along with filling the gas tank, changing the oil, and having the bike inspected. Icon gear is one of the most popular categories of motorcycle gear available for purchase on the market today. Biker jackets, patches, gloves, boots and other items are just some of the things that fall into the category of icon gear. Bike exhausts, motorcycle covers, battery charges, a bike stand, luggage to be stored on the bike and tie downs are just some of the extra equipment that can be purchased for a motorcycle. Some motorcycles come equipped with storage compartments for the biker to store his or her wallet, insurance card, cell phone and other items while riding on the bike. A Harley Davidson store and stores on the Internet sell side compartments for motorcycles if the bike does not come equipped with these helpful storage items. Finding a motorcycle accessory shop near where the biker lives isn’t hard to do. Just type in what accessory the biker needs in a search engine and begin looking through the results. All bikers should consider purchasing goggles or driving sunglasses to protect their eyes from road debris if they do not wear a full face mask on their helmet. Making sure that the driver is shaded from the sun will help ensure his or her safety when on the road.
